On the last Saturday of July 1971 John Gardner and Mel Gascoyne arranged to meet Mike Wooding in Clapham, to go and investigate the boulder collapse in Clay Cavern, at the end of the Far Country Series in Gaping Gill. The trip was prompted by an idea of Mike's, that Clay cavern could be extended. Unfortunately, due to a mis-timing of arrivals at Clapham, the meet had to be called off.
