Mountain biking. Lake district. Sat 26th November 2005

Four brave souls shivered in the car park at Keswick. It was raining and the temperature was about 3 degrees C. So it was full waterproofs from the start. We started pleasantly over the shoulder of Latrig, where we were lashed by freezing winds bringing horizontal sleet. We continued heading east mostly following the C2C cycle route along pleasant lanes and sections of old road.

The views would have been great if it wasn’t raining.

After about 2 hours we stopped at Troutbeck, where there just happened to be a nice warm pub. A pleasant hour or two was spent sampling the beer, food and fire. With the rain now stopped and out toes thawed out we set off again.

Skiddaw and Blencathra were now lightly coated with snow. We followed The Old Coach Road to St Johns in the Vale and from there quiet roads back to Keswick.

No one took any photos!

Thanks to Richard Morten for picking the route and more importantly including a pub!

Victims: Pete Owens, Ken Daykin, Bill Boley and Richard himself.
